Case Study #1: HannahHannah is a grade 5 girl who has recently moved to western Canada from Ontario. Her parents have been divorced for about a year before she arrived. Occasionally, Hannah is inattentive and dependent on other students near her to complete work or generally stay on task. She has had some difficulty adjusting to social situations, but is mostly content at her school and with her friends. Case Study #2: EdgarEdgar is a grade 7 boy with a younger sister and whose parents are still together. Much of Edgar's bringing up has had to deal with the repercussions of very authoritarian parents. He tends to communicate his basic needs and wants only with supports and prompts, and is consistently socially withdrawn or shuts down when not easily understood. Sometimes when another student is speaking to him, Edgar will simply ignore them and walk away to another activity. His impulse control is also an issue in that he regularly interrupts.
